Light as information carrier
With advances in technologies, we are experiencing an increase in the amount and complexity of data generated that exceeds our ability to easily understand and make use of it. The ability to efficiently visualize multi-field data becomes an important task for future visualization research.
This project aims to find novel techniques to efficiently visualize multi-field volumetric data set. In particular we focus on the combination of hi-resolution and low-resolution signals. Earlier results by us have shown that light can be used to efficiently fuse low-resolution and high-resolution signals together to achieve high-quality real-time fMRI visualization. Another part of this project aims to find visualization algorithm in which light is used to highlight level of uncertainty from the data set itself as well as the uncertainty that arises from the visualization.
